Gash-Barka region: Skill-upgrading courses playing vital role in improving teachers’ capacity

The provision of skill-upgrading courses and lectures are playing significant role in improving teachers’ competence, which in turn ensure the quality of education, according to teachers in Gash-Barka region.

Barnetu, 2 December 2010 – The provision of skill-upgrading courses and lectures are playing significant role in improving teachers’ competence, which in turn ensure the quality of education, according to teachers in Gash-Barka region.

They told ERINA that such courses are enabling them to enrich their knowledge and create conducive ground for the teaching-learning process. The teachers further stressed the need to continue organizing training programs especially as regards teaching methods at the elementary level and the like.

The head of planning, research and documentation unit in the Education Ministry’s branch office in the region, Mr. Haileab Habtai, said that upgrading teachers’ awareness of the teaching-learning process and effective application of student-centered approach are some of the objectives of the training courses being offered.
