Efforts underway to enable the disabled become beneficiaries of national resource

The Minister of Labor and Human Welfare, Ms. Salma Hassen, said that concerted action is being taken to ensure the active participation of disabled citizens in various societal aspects and become equitable beneficiaries of national resources.
Asmara, 4 December 2010 – The Minister of Labor and Human Welfare, Ms. Salma Hassen, said that concerted action is being taken to ensure the active participation of disabled citizens in various societal aspects and become equitable beneficiaries of national resources.

She made the remarks while opening an arts exhibition staged in connection with the International Day of the Disabled. Ms. Salma pointed out that in the course of the armed struggle for independence, it was amply demonstrated that the disabled are productive and source of ideas, and not dependent. Such an asset is the outcome of the vigorous efforts of the people and the Government, the Minister added.

Sports competitions and cultural shows, as well as innovative and artistic works were presented on the occasion.

The exhibition being staged at the Expo grounds would remain open until December 5.
