Asmara, 5 December 2010 – Parents voiced concern over the delay of the provision of students’ uniform though they are delighted for the introduction of new school uniform in elementary and junior levels.
Stating that school uniform is an identification of students and schools, they urged the concerned bodies to provide the uniforms in view of the negative influence such delays can have on education and student values.
Regarding the cause of the delay, Mr. Girmai Gebrehiwot, Head of Education Ministry’s branch office in the Central region, said that uniforms are being prepared for more than 52,000 students of different ages.
The manager of Barako Textile Factory, Mr. Russom Negash, noted that the agreement between the Ministry of Education and the factory was made belatedly, nevertheless the preparation of the uniforms is nearly completed.
