2 new schools under construction in Gelalu sub-zone

Two new schools and additional classrooms are under construction in Gelalu sub-zone, Northern Red Sea region, at a cost of over 8 million Nakfa, according to Mr. Hamid Mohammed Ali, Administrator of the sub-zone.

Gelalu, 7 December 2010 – Two new schools and additional classrooms are under construction in Gelalu sub-zone, Northern Red Sea region, at a cost of over 8 million Nakfa, according to Mr. Hamid Mohammed Ali, Administrator of the sub-zone.

He told ERINA that the construction of a new school in Marsa Fatima equipped with 4 classrooms and an office would provide educational opportunity to the inhabitants of 7 villages in the area. Besides, another school equipped with 4 classrooms and an office is being constructed in Diluh administrative area that would eventually relieve students from attending classes in makeshift tents.

8 additional classrooms have also been constructed in Beda Elementary School, while 4 additional classrooms each were constructed in Gelalu and Bordoli elementary schools, reports indicated.

Mr. Hamid further pointed out that the construction of the schools would reinforce the ongoing efforts of regrouping villages in one community, which in turn would promote active student participation in education.

There are 18 school institutions in Gelalu sub-zone ranging from kindergarten to secondary level.
