Dekemhare sub-zone: Stepped-up efforts underway to boost agricultural production

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Dekemhare sub-zone is stepping up efforts in making available select seeds and pesticides, besides vaccinating livestock so as to enable farmers boost production, according to Mr. Tesfalidet Eyob, expert in seed fertilization in the branch.

Dekemhare, 7 December 2010 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Dekemhare sub-zone is stepping up efforts in making available select seeds and pesticides, besides vaccinating livestock so as to enable farmers boost production, according to Mr. Tesfalidet Eyob, expert in seed fertilization in the branch.

He indicated that about 56 quintals of bean seeds and 15 quintals of maize seeds were extended to farmers this year free of charge. Over 250 litters of pesticides and about 3 quintals of anti-pest drugs were also sold at a fair price. Besides, more than 35,000 cattle received vaccines so as to raise dairy production.
