Hagaz inhabitants highlight need to properly utilize allotted land plots

In a meeting with the Administrator of Anseba region, the inhabitants of Hagaz town highlighted the need for the concerned party to closely supervise the land plots allotted for residential purposes, as they are not utilized for the set purpose.

Hagaz, 7 December 2010 – In a meeting with the Administrator of Anseba region, the inhabitants of Hagaz town highlighted the need for the concerned party to closely supervise the land plots allotted for residential purposes, as they are not utilized for the set purpose.

They voiced concern that the land plots are being sold to other individuals, and thus giving rise to unwanted trends.

The regional Administrator, Mr. Gergis Girmai, said that selling land is illegal and that the necessary punitive measures would be taken against those individuals violating the law. In this connection, he called on the public to remain vigilant and combat such incidents.

Mr. Gergis further urged the local inhabitants to step up participation in efforts to prevent deforestation. He also stressed the need for the farming community to properly store and utilize the available animal feed, in addition to enhancing contribution in soil and water conservation activities.

The participants of the meeting adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations aimed at tackling illegal selling of land plots and the finalization of micro-dams construction before the onset of the rainy season, among others.
