NUEW extends support to needy women in Tessenei sub-zone

Tessenei, 7 December 2010 – The NUEW branch in Tessenei sub-zone extended livestock in support to about 700 needy families in which women have become bread winners this year, stated Ms. Meaza Mahrai, head of the branch office.

She told ERINA that in the first phase of the program, 5 goats were extended to 500 families each, while 200 women received similar assistance in the 2nd phase.

Besides, the Union has created conducive ground for 50 women to engage in agricultural practices in Aligidir along with the introduction of loan programs. There are also plans to give handicraft training this year, Ms. Meaza added.
