The head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Southern Red Sea region, Dr. Afwerki Berhe, urged women in the region to make regular medical checkup during pregnancy and delivery.
Assab, 7 December 2010 – The head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Southern Red Sea region, Dr. Afwerki Berhe, urged women in the region to make regular medical checkup during pregnancy and delivery.
In a lecture given in Assab in line with efforts to ensure mother and child safety, he pointed out that the task of ensuring mother and child safety is being given top priority. To this end, Dr. Afwerki stressed the significance of undertaking increased public awareness raising campaign.
The head of health fertility in the branch office, Mr. Gerezgihier Kesete, said on his part that enhanced campaign is being undertaken to raise women’s awareness regarding the importance of giving birth in health institutions. As a result, mother and child mortality rate in the region is on the decline.
