Parents Called Upon To Properly Follow Up Student Academic Performance

Parents are duty-bound to encourage and support students so that they make optimum use of the available educational opportunity, sated Mr. Mohammed Jimi’e Mohammed, director of a boarding school in Forto-Sawa sub-zone.

Forto-Sawa, 8 December 2010 – Parents are duty-bound to encourage and support students so that they make optimum use of the available educational opportunity, sated Mr. Mohammed Jimi’e Mohammed, director of a boarding school in Forto-Sawa sub-zone.

In a meeting with representatives of the local inhabitants from various administrative areas in the sub-zone, he indicated that the Government is doing its level best to expand educational service through construction a number of schools in different parts of the country. Mr. Mohammed further explained that failure of parents to closely follow up their children’s academic performance is among the main causes for student absence in attending class.

Noting that the participation of children in general and females in particular in education is not proceeding as desired, he urged parents to play increased role in this regard.

The head of social service in the sub-zone, Mr. Abdu Mohammed,  on his part stressed the need for parents to step up participation in upgrading student academic performance.

The Forto-Sawa boarding school that opened in 1998 is currently providing educational opportunity to 336 students, out of whom 98 are females.
