Vegetable farmers in Halhal sub-zone are redoubling endeavors to boost production both in terms of quality and quantity through effective utilization of waters from the nearby micro-dam, according to Mr. Saleh Osman, Acting head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone. He noted that about 90 hectares are being put under irrigation farming in different parts of the sub-zone. Concerted endeavors are also underway this year to raise productivity and upgrade the capacity of farmers, Mr. Saleh added.
He further pointed out that all micro-dams in the sub-zone have impounded sufficient amount of water and called on the farming community to make maximum use of such resource in boosting output. Mr. Saleh also urged them to engage in dairy farming alongside the agricultural activities.
