Barentu, 11 December 2010 – The machineries introduced in putting in place agricultural infrastructure and undertaking agricultural programs in Gash-Barka region have already laid solid ground for the development of irrigation and modern farming practices, stated Mr. Kibreab Abraham, head of the central technical service in the region.
He told ERINA that advanced agricultural machineries are being effectively deployed in the development of modern irrigation system at a substantial expenditure. Such machineries are reinforcing agricultural development projects in Gerset, Fiesko, Ketai and Maeloba as regards leveling of land plots, ploughing, harvesting and other farming activities, Mr. Kibreab added.
Reports indicated that mobile garages along with skilled manpower are being deployed in these areas so as to effectively implement the programs.
