Administrator Calls On The Public And Administrative Bodies To Reinforce Literacy Campaign

In a workshop held in Barentu town, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mussa Rab’a, called on the society at large and administrative bodies to intensify their contribution so as to eradicate illiteracy.

Barentu, 12 December 2010 – In a workshop held in Barentu town, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mussa Rab’a, called on the society at large and administrative bodies to intensify their contribution so as to eradicate illiteracy.

He stated that the active participation of the public is vital to uproot illiteracy and that the role of administrators should be further reinforced to effectively implement literacy programs.

The Head of Adult Education and Media in the Education Ministry, Mr. Gebrezghi Dimam, noted that illiteracy is one of bottlenecks for the development of a society, and that emphasis is given to eradicate illiteracy along with the undertaken development activities. He went on to say that encouraging outcome is being registered to this end.

Also, the head of the Branch office of the Ministry of Education in Gash-Barka region, Mr. Kelit Girmai, said that preparations have been finalized to effectively carryout adult education program in the region, and called on partners to enhance their role.
