Barentu, 14 December 2010 – The undertaking of various programs towards addressing socio-economic problems of nationals in Barentu sub-zone is bearing fruitful outcome, stated Ms. Hana Osman, head of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the sub-zone.

She told ERINA that financial and material assistance worth over half a million Nakfa was extended this year to disabled students, orphans, children of martyrs and families in which women are the bread winners.

Besides, over 45, 000 Nakfa was disbursed for distributing beasts of burden to disabled students in the remote areas of Sisima, Kuluku, Sosona, Fode and Anagulu. 18 orphans were also rehabilitated through cattle and small-scale business enterprise, Ms. Hana added.

Also as part of efforts to upgrade vocational know-how of youths along with academic education, students who are the bread winners of their respective families received a year-long training along with monthly salary in collaboration with the government garage there.
