The inhabitants and employees of Haleb semi-island have begun to engage in fruits and vegetables farming activities with a view to meeting their demand. They have so far managed to harvest production that would meet demand for the next 4 months.
Halieb, 15 December 2010 – The inhabitants and employees of Haleb semi-island have begun to engage in fruits and vegetables farming activities with a view to meeting their demand. They have so far managed to harvest production that would meet demand for the next 4 months.
The inhabitants stated that previously they were compelled to buy fruits and vegetables from Assab town at high price. At present, however, they have managed to cover 40% of their demand thanks to the launching of vegetable farming.
The local inhabitants went on to say that vegetation farming that seemed impossible in the semi-island has now become practical and is yielding encouraging output. They also stated that they plan to engage in poultry farming activities.
