The Tourism Center in Desei Island is nearly finalized and would commence services soon thanks to the Government’s assistance.
Massawa, 19 December 2010 – The Tourism Center in Desei Island is nearly finalized and would commence services soon thanks to the Government’s assistance.
According to the owner of the Center, Mr. Primo Giovanni, 42 huts have been constructed by the Musa Ali Construction Company at a cost of over 4.5 million Nakfa, and six additional huts as well as a restaurant which can accommodate up to 200 guests have also been constructed.
Mr. Primo said that a large underground water reservoir has been put in place, besides construction of terraces and embankments to prevent soil erosion.
Mr. Mohammed Osman, one of the inhabitants of the island stated that a number of work opportunities have been created and have brought change among the inhabitants of the area.
The Tourism Center in Desei Island would be able to accommodate up to 120 tourists and many visitors.
Desei Island, located about 32 Km. east of Massawa, is endowed with suitable climatic conditions. The Island is surrounded by coral reefs and pristine coastal lines on both sides.
