Various agricultural activities underway in Adi-Keih and Segeneiti sub-zones

The Southern regional Administration, in coordination with the general public and partners, is implementing various programs in Adi-Keih and Segeneiti sub-zones aimed at achieving food security through introducing irrigation farming.
Adi-Keih, 20 December 2010 – The Southern regional Administration, in coordination with the general public and partners, is implementing various programs in Adi-Keih and Segeneiti sub-zones aimed at achieving food security through introducing irrigation farming.

Agricultural experts in the region told ERINA that fruits and vegetables farming are being widely introduced through enriching underground water resource. Gardening tools have also been extended to each farmer so as to expand such farming activities. Besides, training was given to 500 farmers on raising their awareness regarding sol and water management, gardening science, diet, water motor repair and the like.

Reports indicated that pond and water distribution station are under construction so as to ease potable water supply problem in Adi-Kontetefe.

The Administrators of Adi-Keih and Segeneiti sub-zones respectively said that soil and water conservation activities are gaining momentum among farmers and urged them to expand fruits farming.
