Inhabitants of Central-Denkalia sub-zone get access to potable water supply

A potable water supply project has been implemented in Dud administrative area, Central-Denkalia sub-zone, thus relieving the local inhabitants from drinking water problem. The project involves the construction of water distribution station and a pond, as well as the digging of a well.

Central-Denkalia, 25 December 2010 – A potable water supply project has been implemented in Dud administrative area, Central-Denkalia sub-zone, thus relieving the local inhabitants from drinking water problem. The project involves the construction of water distribution station and a pond, as well as the digging of a well.

The local inhabitants explained that they were compelled to travel about 10 hours daily to fetch water that was not even up to standard. At present, however, traveling long distance to obtain is no more thanks to the implementation of reliable potable water supply in their respective localities, they elaborated.

The inhabitants further stated that although the area is an arid place in which water is impossible to obtain, thanks to the Government’s endeavors, a solar-energy generated potable water supply project has been implemented which is providing pure water to them and their livestock.

Potable water supply projects were implemented in different parts of Central-Denkalia sub-zone over the past 2 years at the cost of 6.6 million Nakfa, including Afambo, Bel’ubui, Dud and Dereb, according to the infrastructure development department in Southern Red Sea region.
