The farmers told ERINA that on top of fruits and vegetables farming, they have managed to obtain bumper harvest through cultivating select seeds of sorghum thanks to the professional advice of experts.
The head of seed fertilization and animal preservation in Forto-Sawa sub-zone, Mr. Tedros Zegergish, said on his part that optimum production could still be harvested, provided it is cultivated via irrigation farming. In this connection, he urged the farming community make good use of the available opportunity.
The head of seed fertilization at the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region, Mr. Kesete Gebreyohanes, indicated that the Ministry is experimenting various select seeds on over 2,000 hectares. The endeavors being made by fruits and vegetables farmers in the sub-zone would equally play due role in tackling shortage in the supply of select seeds, he added.
