Mai-Mine, 28 December 2010 – Farmers engaged in fruits and vegetable farming in Ketina stream and Ubel, Mai-Mine sub-zone, in the form of an association are making due contribution in meeting local demand, according to Mr. Abraham Hagos, Administrator of the sub-zone.

He commended the role that the farming community is playing in stabilizing the local market, and asserted that the sub-zonal administration would extend the required assistance so as to encourage such activities.  Mr. Abraham further warned that the necessary steps would be taken against those individuals who failed to make good use of the land allotted to them.

The chairman of the Association, Keshi Russom Kahsai, explained that previously the local inhabitants were compelled to buy fruits and vegetables from Adi-Quala and Mendefera at high price. At present, however, the Association has opened shops for selling its products in the markets of Mai-Mine semi-urban center at fair price.
