Habero, 12 December 2010 – At a meeting conducted in Aritai semi-urban center, executive bodies and the general public have been called upon to strengthen coordination so as to further reinforce development achievements in Habero sub-zone.
According to reports, schools have been constructed in Mezret, Gelet and Habero-Tselim at a total expenditure of 4.6 million Nakfa in the year 2010, in addition to the putting in place 7,000 cubic meters of embankments and 200 Km-long terraces as part of soil and water conservation activities. Moreover, 89 Km-long dirt road has been renovated through popular campaign, as well as over 29,000 tree seedlings planted.
The Acting administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Husein Mohammed Nur, stated that teachers’ residential houses are under construction in Aritai, and three tent schools have been moved to Qar’abel, Habero-Tselim and Filfile.
Likewise, two wells have been dug to utilize the waters of Anseba River for the benefit of the inhabitants, while the drilling of a well with sufficient amount of water has been undertaken. The report further indicted that five additional wells would be dug in the New Year.
Meanwhile, some 2,500 families have been regrouped voluntarily, and that activities aimed at enhancing community-based sanitation campaigns have borne fruitful outcome.
The participants of the meeting adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including steps to alleviate ambulance problem and the conservation of forest resource, among others.
