Administrator Stresses Significance Of Grouping Villages In Expanding Social Services

In a meeting with the representatives of the inhabitants of Hamelmalo sub-zone, the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, said that the regrouping of villages in a studied central place is a prerequisite for providing equitable social services to the public.
Hamelmalo, 31 December 2010 – In a meeting with the representatives of the inhabitants of Hamelmalo sub-zone, the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, said that the regrouping of villages in a studied central place is a prerequisite for providing equitable social services to the public.

He noted that the Government is doing its level best to expand various social services in different parts of the country. In this connection, Mr. Gergis called on inhabitants of various scattered villages  in the sub-zone to be grouped in one community so that they may become beneficiaries of such services.

The Administrator further pointed out that satisfactory harvest has been obtained this year thanks to the good rainy season and the coordinated development activities carried out by the people and the Government. He also urged members of the farming community to level their farmlands in advance so that they may obtain bumper harvest in coming rainy seasons.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Ms. Haregu Woldegergis, on her part called on the farmers to redouble endeavors and conserve every drop of rain to this end.

The participants of the meeting adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including the need to promote rural electrification program, finalize the construction of water reservoirs before the onset of the next rainy season, build market center of fruits, vegetables and cereals in Hamelmalo semi-urban center and the like.
