Shambuko, 6 January 2011 – Development activities being undertaken in Shambuko sub-zone are providing vital impetus to upgrading the people’s standard of living. This was disclosed at a meeting conducted in the sub-zone.
Reports indicated that soil and water conservation, as well as forestation activities worth about 5 million Nakfa were carried out in which the local inhabitants took active participations.
Moreover, five new schools were constructed at an expenditure of over 11 million Nakfa, and that a research center is in the process of construction. In addition, five ponds have been made available in the administrative areas of Tolegemja, Girme, Aikota and Shambuko respectively.
Likewise, some 6 million Nakfa was disbursed in support of needy families in the form of livestock, and that about 450 residential houses have been built for the benefit of rehabilitated nationals in Dembe Himbirt and Girme.
