The Administrator of Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, said that multifaceted tasks accomplished in the region in 2010 constitute a turning point towards scoring more gratifying performance and efficient work methodology.
Asmara, 7 January 2011- The Administrator of Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, said that multifaceted tasks accomplished in the region in 2010 constitute a turning point towards scoring more gratifying performance and efficient work methodology.
He told ERINA that over 90% of residents of the region have access to potable water supply, and that new high schools have been constructed in Embeito and Embaderho, which in turn promoted active student participation in education.
Mr. Kahsai further indicated that electricity and solar-energy generated power supply have been introduced in health institutions in different parts of the region so as to render better health service. The construction of Bet-Mekae Hospital and the expansion of Edagahamus Hospital in 2010 are making major contribution in enhancing health service in general and mother and child care in particular.
Also in line with efforts to achieve food security, select seeds and fertilizers were distributed to farmers, besides undertaking soil and water conservation activities, the Administrator elaborated.
Moreover, he pointed out that major infrastructure development projects were implemented in 2010, including the construction of the Dirfo-Beleza road, construction and repairing of sewage canals, pedestrians walk, expansion and renovation of streets, among others.
Mr. Kahsai went on to say that over 80% of the envisaged programs were effectively implemented, and that the remaining ones are in the process of implementation. To this end, he called on the general public to enhance participation.
