Anseba region: Farmers called upon to back up animal vaccination program

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Anseba region disclosed that the active participation of the farming community in animal vaccination program has a vital role to play in ensuring animal health and boosting their productivity.

Keren, 7 January 2011 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Anseba region disclosed that the active participation of the farming community in animal vaccination program has a vital role to play in ensuring animal health and boosting their productivity.

The head of veterinary unit in the branch office, Dr. Teklemariam Hailemichael, stressed the significance of undertaking animal vaccine in preventing disease and boosting production, and called on farmers to back up the program. He further indicated that over 200,000 goats and sheep, 59,000 cattle and about 7,000 dogs, as well as over 150 chickens in the region received vaccines.

Mr. Teklemariam went on to say that the vaccination program would continue in an enhanced manner this year. Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the program highlighted the importance of the vaccines in relieving animals from various diseases, in addition to raising their productivity.
