Mai-Mine Inhabitants Laud Development Accomplishments

The inhabitants of Mai-Mine said that the implementation of the remote area-centered development programs is bringing about noticeable improvement in their standard of living. Mai-Mine, 11 January 2011 – The inhabitants of Mai-Mine said that the implementation of the remote area-centered development programs is bringing about noticeable improvement in their standard of living.

They told ERINA that the endeavors made to develop and expand vegetable farming are bearing fruitful outcome, and as a result they have managed to supply fruits and vegetables to the market, beyond ensuring their own consumption.

The local inhabitants further expressed admiration to the tasks accomplished as regards provision of various social services, including education, health, potable water supply and the like.  They further explained that traveling long distance to Adi-Quala and other areas to continue education would henceforth be no more.  The inhabitants also highlighted the need for speeding up the drafting of master plan for the semi-urban center so as to facilitate the pace of urbanization.

Mai-Mine which is one of the 12 sub-zones in the Southern region is located about 94 km. South-west of Mendefera.
