Making necessary preparations before issuing proclamation vital in providing efficient service, Say members of the public

Members of the general public highlighted the need for making the necessary preparations before rushing to issue proclamations and directives as regards the work of land transport in the central region.

Asmara, 12 January 2011 – Members of the general public highlighted the need for making the necessary preparations before rushing to issue proclamations and directives as regards the work of land transport in the central region.

They explained that although the land transport branch in the region managed to tackle the delays that used to be encountered in renewing driving license through introducing computerized mode of operation in 2010, such problem, nonetheless, has been witnessed in the New Year too.

In a reply she gave to ERINA about the complaints, the head of administration and finance in the branch office, Ms. Emuna Afwerki, admitted the criticism of the public and stated that the problem emanated from the fact that the proclamation pertaining to road fee that was issued last month was not entered in the data base.

Meanwhile, the members of the general public also stated that the eye sight checking service and traffic police are located in far apart areas, which in turn are exposing the public to wastage of time and energy. In this respect, they urged the concerned party to tackle the problem.

Ms. Emuna said on her part that the main cause for such a problem rests on the lack of enough space of the branch office, and that continued efforts are being made to alleviate it.
