Active public participation vital in crimes prevention

The Commander of the Eritrean Police, Col. Mehari Tsegai, said that enhanced role of all government institutions and the general public is imperative in the prevention of crimes and accidents.

Agordat, 17 January 2011 – The Commander of the Eritrean Police, Col. Mehari Tsegai, said that enhanced role of all government institutions and the general public is imperative in the prevention of crimes and accidents.

In a meeting with Area administrators, ministries’ branch heads and heads of different departments in Gash-Barka region, he explained that vigorous efforts are being made to prevent crimes and accidents. In this connection, Col. Mehari urged government institutions and representatives of the public to make due contribution in raising the awareness of the society as regards  low regarding crime and the dire consequences of crimes in socio-economic wellbeing of the people and the nation.

Noting that the condition of roads, technical problems of vehicles and negligence are among the main causes of accidents, he called on the society to be cautious of handling property.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mussa Rab’a, pointed out that every citizen is duty-bound to prevent crimes and bring criminals to justice.
