Department heads conduct visit to Gash-Barka and Anseba regions

Heads of government institutions and associations in the Southern region conducted a visit to Gash-Barka and Anseba regions to witness the progress of development and infrastructure programs in the respective regions.

Barentu, 17 January 2011 – Heads of government institutions and associations in the Southern region conducted a visit to Gash-Barka and Anseba regions to witness the progress of development and infrastructure programs in the respective regions.  They stated that the achievements registered shoulders heavy responsibility on all concerned parties towards accomplishing still more gratifying tasks.

The director general of social services in Southern region, Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, told ERINA that although they have been following up the implementation of development and infrastructure programs through national media outlets,  the visit enabled them to personally witness the reality on the ground. In this connection, he noted the need for enhancing similar tours in the future.

The head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s branch in the Southern region, Ms. Alganesh Kidane, on her part expressed deep impression with the implementation of major programs on the basis of the nation’s internal resource. She further pointed out that the implementation of development programs and ensuring social justice fully attest to the commitment to honor the trust of martyrs.

In the course of the tour  from January 10 to 14, they visited the Aligidir and Talatasher agricultural projects, the Fanko, Tsimu’e, Fanko Rawi and Gerset dams, as well as the extensive farmlands around Tessenei, the banana, tomatoe, animal feed processing factories  and water purification plant in Alebu, bridges along the Barentu-Tessenei road, the Gash Bridge, in addition to Bisha Mining site and Elabered Agro-Industry plant.

The regional administrators of Gash-Barka and Anseba also conducted discussion with the visiting group.
