Soil And Water Conservation Activities Underway In Maebelie

The inhabitants of Maebelie in Central Denkalia sub-zone, Southern Red Sea region, are carrying out popular campaign focusing on soil and water conservation activities, as well as road renovation.     Maebelie, 19 January 2011 – The inhabitants of Maebelie in Central Denkalia sub-zone, Southern Red Sea region, are carrying out popular campaign focusing on soil and water conservation activities, as well as road renovation.

The Administrator of the area, Mr. Mohammed Habena, indicated that  about 10 Km-long terraces and embankments have been constructed through the campaign, in addition to repairing 15 Km-long road which was damaged by excessive flooding. He further stated that such development activities would continue with added vigor in the future.

The participants of the campaign highlighted the significance of the activities in combating desertification, and that they would back up the undertaking. Reports indicated that the inhabitants are working 6 days a week for the success of the program.
