Timket Colorfully Celebrated Nationwide

Timket (Epiphany) was today celebrated across the nation in a colorful manner.

Asmara, 19 January 2011 – Timket (Epiphany) was today celebrated across the nation in a colorful manner.

During the celebrations here in the capital in which thousands of the faithful participated, prayers headed by His Holiness Abune Dioskoros, 4th Patriarch of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church, and Bishops were conducted.

The Patriarch and Bishops subsequently conducted prayers and benediction around the Holy Waters at the site where the religious even took place.  Also on the occasion, Liqe Guba’e Beyene Eyasu outlined the historical origin of the religious holiday.

Present on the occasion were the Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, senior government officials, diplomats and invited guests.
