Price of cereals drops significantly, Say beneficiaries

Beneficiaries in the country say that the price of cereals in the market has shown significant reduction. The price of sorghum, taff, millet and other cereals has declined beginning this year, they added.

Asmara, 20 January 2011 – Beneficiaries in the country say that the price of cereals in the market has shown significant reduction. The price of sorghum, taff, millet and other cereals has declined beginning this year, they added.

Reports disclosed that the current price of barely has declined from 6,000 to 2,000 Nakfa per quintal, while that of millets has registered reduction from 6,000 to 2,700 Nakfa, and sorghum from 3,500 to 1,600 Nakfa.

The beneficiaries said that such developments are bringing about stability in their standard of living. They also noted the positive outcome of on-going endeavors on the part of the people and Government aimed at achieving food security through introducing modern farming facilities.
