General Auditor’s Office gives training of trainers

The Office of the General Auditor has provided training of trainers to staff members of various government institutions and PFDJ with a view to upgrading the competence of accountants.

Asmara, 22 January 2011 – The Office of the General Auditor has provided training of trainers to staff members of various government institutions and PFDJ with a view to upgrading the competence of accountants.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Auditor General, Mr. Berhane Habtemariam, stated that the training is significant in tackling the existing loopholes in the field of accounting in the country. He further expressed conviction that the trainees would bring about significant changes in their workplace, and urged their respective institutions to create conducive work atmosphere to them.

Mr. Laban Gadung, instructor of the course, highlighted the need for the trainees to enrich their skill with practical aspects and foster spirit of cooperation among one another.

Likewise, Ms. Mihret Gebregergish, from the General Auditor’s Office and the coordinator of the training, explained that the trainees have been pursuing course in ACCA since 2009 through the professionals of Price Water House Coopers. In this connection, she pointed out that such training creates conducive ground for continuing the program on the basis of internal capacity.

Ms. Mihret further explained that 4 accountants have already got full membership in the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) following theoretical courses and a 3-year long practical work.
