Student’s participation in education increasing in Afambo

The participation of students in education, especially females is showing significant growth in Afambo administrative area, Southern Red Sea region thanks to the opening of semi-boarding elementary school.

Afambo, 23 January 2011 – The participation of students in education, especially females is showing significant growth in Afambo administrative area, Southern Red Sea region thanks to the opening of semi-boarding elementary school.

The director of the school, Mr. Mohammed Aidu, told ERINA that the number of students that was 70 earlier has now increased to 316 with the enrollment of students from Abie, Dud, Dereb, Mabra and Afambo administrative areas.

He further stated that although commendable teaching-learning process is underway in the school, the lack of enough classrooms needs to be tackled on the part of concerned party for better student performance.  

Students of the school said on their part that parents are now well aware of the significance of education, and that more parents are sending their children to school. 

Afambo, one of the 7 administrative areas in Central Denkalia sub-zone has educational institutions ranging from kindergarten to junior level, according to reports.
