Preparations in full swing to commemorate 21st anniversary of Operation Fenkil

Preparations are in full swing to colorfully commemorate the 21st anniversary of Operation Fenkil and the liberation of the port city of Massawa.

Massawa, 24 January 2011 – Preparations are in full swing to colorfully commemorate the 21st anniversary of Operation Fenkil and the liberation of the port city of Massawa. 

In the commemorative event that would be held from February 11 to 13 under the theme: “Fenkil: Apiary of Eritrean Independence”, various programs highlighting the major victory that paved the way for total liberation would be staged.

It is to be recalled that the historic Operation Fenkil culminated in the victory over the Ethiopian forces of occupation and the liberation of the port city of Massawa on 10 February 1990.
