The distribution of anti-trachoma medicinewas launched in Dubarwa town in the presence of the Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, and the Administrator of Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein.
Dubarwa, 27 January 2011 – The distribution of anti-trachoma medicine was launched in Dubarwa town in the presence of the Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, and the Administrator of Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein.
Speaking in the occasion, the Minister noted that substantial investment is made to ensure the health of citizens, and that the medications would be distributed free of charge.
The regional Administrator equally noted that the role of the campaign aimed at preventing blindness couldn’t be viewed lightly, and called on the public at large to practice hygiene so as to combat diseases affecting sight.
The head of the Health Ministry’s branch office in the Southern region, Dr. Tesfalem Gebrekidan, indicated that on his part that the medications would be distributed to nationals in every village of Dubarwa sub-zone.
It is known that there exists plan to eradicate blindness by 2020 at global level. To this end, Eritrea is engaged in vigorous endeavors to eradicate blindness by the year 2015.
