The Ministry of Education has assigned over 22,000 youths who graduated in various fields from technical schools in the country in past years towards alleviating shortage of manpower in different parts of the country.
Asmara, 27 January 2011 – The Ministry of Education has assigned over 22,000 youths who graduated in various fields from technical schools in the country in past years towards alleviating shortage of manpower in different parts of the country.
The director general of technical and vocational training division in the Ministry, Mr. Tesfai Sium, indicated that some 3,000 to 5,000 students have been graduated in various fields at certificate level annually. He further explained the Ministry has expanded vocational training programs through opening vocational training centers. Mr. Tesfai also stated that efforts were made to improve the curriculum, in addition to upgrading the capacity of teachers.
According to reports, there are plans to construct vocational training centers in the Southern Red Sea region, Gash-Barka and the Southern regions, besides opening business and administration schools in Asmara, Gogne, as well as renovating Wina and Mai-Habar technical schools.
