Administrator urges farmers to concentrate on vegetable farming

The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, urged farmers engaged in vegetable farming to work diligently in stabilizing the market and meeting local demand.
Adi-Tekelezan, 28 January 2011 – The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, urged farmers engaged in vegetable farming to work diligently in stabilizing the market and meeting local demand.

In a meeting with the inhabitants of Deki-Zeru administrative area, Adi-Tekelezan sub-zone, he called on them to redouble efforts in properly utilizing available water resource for vegetable farming activities. In this connection, Mr. Gergis noted the need for giving special attention to the task of promoting soil and water conservation activities as well as guarding forestry resource.

Reports indicated that there exists fruits and vegetables farming on about 10  hectares. The farmers expressed commitment to enhance such farming activities.

Meanwhile, the local inhabitants expressed satisfaction for  becoming beneficiaries of 24-hour electricity service, potable water supply and others. They also highlighted the need for constructing road that runs into the locality and a junior school.
