Asmara, 28 January 2011 – The Eritrean national cycling team is maintaining the upper hand at the team level in the Gabon Tour which is one of the major cycling races in the African continent.
In the 3rd stage race of the tour yesterday covering about 112 kilometers characterized with plains, Eritrean cyclist Frekalsi Debesai finished 5th, while Dawit Haile and Daniel Teklehaimanot stood 16th and 17th respectively.
Reports indicated that the Eritrean cycling team is wining broad acclaim, and that it has the upper hand in the race due to the fact that 3 of its members rank in the top ten.
The forthcoming 4th stage of the Gabon Tour covering 133 kilometers would be characterized with an uphill race.
