Preparations to colorfully commemorate Operation Fenkil finalized

Preparations involving active popular participation to colorfully commemorate the 21st anniversary of Operation Fenkil have been finalized, according to the preparatory committee.

Massawa, 28 January 2011 – Preparations involving active popular participation to colorfully commemorate the 21st anniversary of Operation Fenkil have been finalized, according to the preparatory committee.

Reports indicated that marching parade and carnival have been prepared with the participation of the general public, students and youths, as well as members of the Defense Force, national construction companies and various institutions.

Moreover, seminars on the heroic feats demonstrated in Operation  Fenkil would be part of the commemorative event with a view to bequeathing the historic legacy to the young generation. Community tents would also be set up in all administrative areas of the port city that feature various traditional activities.

Area administrators in Massawa asserted that the residents of the port city are ready to accommodate guests and back up the commemorative events.
