Operation Fenkil Heralding Prospects Of Prosperity, Say Massawa Residents

The residents of Massawa city said that the historic Operation Fenkil is heralding the promising prospects of prosperity and social justice in the same way it paved the way for total liberation.

Massawa, 29 January 2011 – The residents of Massawa city said that the historic Operation Fenkil is heralding the promising prospects of prosperity and social justice in the same way it paved the way for total liberation. 

They explained that they are in the process of enjoying the benefits of prosperity thanks to the substantial investment made to rehabilitate and modernize the war-ravaged infrastructure of the port city. In this connection, the residents stated that the commemorative event reminds us all to renew commitment towards redoubling endeavors in the nation-building process.

They further stated that they consider themselves lucky to personally witness the reconstruction and modernization of Massawa that was completely tarnished by colonial forces. The city residents also highlighted the need for members of  the young generation to properly bequeath the legacy and heroic feats of forefathers.

It is to be noted that the 21st anniversary of Operation Fenkil would be commemorated from February 11 to 13 under the theme: “Fenkil: Apiary of Eritrean independence.”
