Adi-Keih, 2 February 2011 – The residents of Adi-Keih and Senafe towns have become beneficiaries of a 24-hour electricity service thanks to the installation of big generators, according to Mr. Hailemichael Mebrahtu, head of the Eritrean Electricity Corporation branch in Adi-Keih.

He told ERINA that prior to 2010 electricity service in the two towns was limited to only 6 hours, but has subsequently increased to 12 hours by early 2010. At present, however, Adi-Keih and the surrounding 12 villages in the sub-zone, as well as Senafe town have got access to 24-hour power supply, Mr. Hailemichael added.

The beneficiaries highlighted the paramount importance of the newly introduced service in facilitating the pace of urbanization and avoiding work load that used to be encountered due to limited electricity service. They further stressed its significance in providing speedy service to the public on the part of various institutions.

Reports indicated that efforts are underway to expand internet service in Adi-Keih sub-zone as the necessary basic social services have already been put in place.
