Asmara, 6 February 2011 – The Ministry of Tourism is exerting utmost efforts in infrastructure, service rendering enterprises and the like so as to make Eritrea one of the best tourists destination sites , stated the Director General of Service Department in the Ministry, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim.
Mr. Mohammed told ERINA that preparations are underway to make Mai-Wu’uy, Akhwar, Irafaile, Central Dankalia and other places which are considered to have an impact on people’s health, more attractive to visitors. There are also plans to construct entertainment centers along the Semenawi Bahri road.
Mr. Mohammed explained that the Ministry conducted investigations on various service-rendering establishments and some enterprises which were found to be not up to standard were closed. He added that the implementation of nine projects comprising of the construction of five hotels and there entertainment centers in Northern Red Sea and Southern region is underway.
The Director General also indicated that the number of visitors in 2010 has increased by 6% from previous years, and reminded the public at large to further enhance contribution in promoting tourism sector in the country.
