Major tasks have been undertaken in Serejeka sub-zone focusing on soil and water conservation through the coordinated endeavors of Defense Force members and the general public.

Serejeka, 7 February 2011 – Major tasks have been undertaken in Serejeka sub-zone focusing on soil and water conservation through the coordinated endeavors of Defense Force members and the general public.

Accordingly, over 131 Km.-long terracing and embankments have been constructed in the villages of Embaderho, Geremi and Midri-Zawl, in addition to the digging of over 14,000 holes for planting tree seedlings.

Endeavors being made by the Central regional Administration towards promoting irrigation farming in Shimangus-Laelai, Mekerka and Geshnashim are also bearing encouraging outcome, according to Eng. Abraham Daniel, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the region.

In expression of their satisfaction with the development accomplishment, the inhabitants of 13 administrative areas in the town and 2 sub-zones hosted a luncheon to the EDF members who took active role in the undertakings.

Speaking on the occasion, the regional Administrator, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, said that members of the Defense Force are messengers of development, and called on the public to make good use of the projects.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the PFDJ in the Central region, Mr. Yosuf Saik, handed prizes to those who made utmost contribution in the implementation of the program.
