Sports Activities In Connection With Operation Fenkil Anniversary Celebrations Continue

Sports activities being carried out in connection with the commemoration of the 21st anniversary of the Operation Fenkil Operation are continuing with a spirit of intense competition, the head of the sports sub-committee, Mr. Hisabu Gebreselaissie disclosed.

Massawa, 10 February 2011- Sports activities being carried out in connection with the commemoration of the 21st anniversary of the Operation Fenkil Operation are continuing with a spirit of intense competition, the head of the sports sub-committee, Mr. Hisabu Gebreselaissie disclosed.

The sports activities which are being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense include, foot ball matches, cycling race, volley ball, athletics, camel race and wheel chair basket ball.

Reports indicate that winners of the different competitions stand to win financial prizes, trophies and medallions.

Indicating that the Eritrean former cyclist residing in the USA, Mr. Daniel Fissehaye has provided the trophies for the winners in the cycling race for the 5th time this year, Mr. Hisabu commended his initiatives. He also pointed out that visitors from Kuwait are expected to attend the camel race.

The 21st anniversary of the Operation Fenkil will be commemorated under the theme  “Fenkil: Apiary Of Eritrean Independence” from 11 to 13 February.
