Taff And Fasulia Yielding Good Output In Gash-Barka Region

Taff and Fasulia which are of economic significance are said to yield bumper harvest in different parts of Gash-Barka region, according to farmers and agricultural experts who experimented on  the crops. Haikota, 12 February 2011 – Taff and Fasulia which are of economic significance are said to yield bumper harvest in different parts of Gash-Barka region, according to farmers and agricultural experts who experimented on  the crops.

They explained that the aforementioned crops were earlier experimented in limited amount by some farmers and proved to bear fruitful outcome. At present, the crops are being widely introduced in the sub-zones of Forto-Sawa, Haikota and Tessenei.

Mr. Shimendi Kesete, agricultural expert in Forto-Sawa sub-zone, indicated that almost all vegetable farmers in the sub-zone have cultivated taff this year which is in promising condition.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Abdelkerim Idris, pointed out that previously this kind of crop was not common in the area. At present, however, taff is already widely introduced and that the farmers are obtaining bumper harvest.

Report indicated that Fasulia which is rich in protein has also been experimented in different parts of the region and yielded excellent outcome.
