Taff and White Beans Cultivation In Gash Barka Yields Promising Harvest

The cultivation of taff  and white beans in different parts of the Gash Barka region has yielded encouraging harvest,  farmers and agricultural experts in the area disclosed.

Gash Barka, 13 February 2011- The cultivation of taff  and white beans in different parts of the Gash Barka region has yielded encouraging harvest,  farmers and agricultural experts in the area disclosed.

According to the farmers and experts, since the experimental cultivation of these two crops in limited areas resulted in encouraging outcomes, extensive cultivations are now underway in Forto-Sawa, Haikota and Tessenei.

Indicating that although taff was previously an unfamiliar crop in the area, the administrator of the Forto-Sawa sub zone, Mr. Abdalkarim Idris stated that farmers in the area have now been able to gather ample harvest by learning about the crop.

Greatly demanded in the world market for its high protein content, the cultivation of white beans in the area has also proven to have great potential, according to the owner of Barka agricultural production, Mr. Mebrahtu Asfaha.
