Eid Mewlid Al-Nebewi celebrated nationwide

Eid Mewlid Al-Nebewi A’Sherif was today celebrated across the nation. The celebration at the Al-Khulefa Al-Rasheedin Mosque here in the capital was attended by ministers, senior government and PFDJ officials, as well as diplomats and invited guests.

Asmara, 15 February 2011 –  Eid Mewlid Al-Nebewi A’Sherif was today celebrated across the nation. The celebration at the Al-Khulefa Al-Rasheedin Mosque here in the capital was attended by ministers, senior government and PFDJ officials, as well as diplomats and invited guests.

Speaking on the occasion, the Eritrean Mufti, Sheik Al-Amin Osman, outlined the historical origin of the holiday and its significance, besides giving briefings on the migration of the first followers of Prophet Mohammed to Eritrea. 

Stressing the need for reinforcing the noble values of mutual harmony and collaboration among the Eritrean society, the Mufti commended the Government’s endeavors towards expanding health and educational services with a view to improving lifestyle. In this regard, he called on the general public to make good use of such opportunities and particularly urged parents to enhance contribution in promoting female participation in education.

Sheik Al-Amin Osman further lauded the dedication being demonstrated by Eritrean youths in the implementation of development programs. He also reminded Eritrean nationals residing abroad to keep on visiting the Homeland, besides vigorously teaching their children about the culture and language of the Homeland.
