Ministry introduces advertisement in the media

As part of efforts to strengthen the competence and competitiveness of the national media, the Ministry of Information has introduced various advertising programs that correspond with the expansion and development of the media outlets, according to Mr. Russom Fisehaye, head of administration and finance in the Ministry.

Asmara, 15 February 2011 – As part of efforts to strengthen the competence and competitiveness of the national media, the Ministry of Information has introduced various advertising programs that correspond with the expansion and development of the media outlets, according to Mr. Russom Fisehaye, head of administration and finance in the Ministry.

He explained that advertisement is not only a source of income but also gives added beauty and variety to the media, in addition to making due contribution in familiarizing the general public with activities in the country. As such, the Ministry would mount efforts in this respect, Mr. Russom added.

He further pointed out that guidelines and directives pertaining to advertisement have been revised, and that attractive and favorable atmosphere is being created in terms of price and other prerequisites. In this respect, Mr. Russom stated that commercials are being arranged at program intervals in the 2 channels of ERI-TV, as well as the Dimtsi Hafash, Zara and Numa Radio. Special page has also been designated for advertisement in Hadas Ertra newspaper which is getting good response, he added.

Also in response to customers request to expand TV tax collecting stations in all parts of the region which was only limited to the Central region, the Information Ministry, in collaboration with all regional administrative bodies is opening tax collecting stations in various towns with the expansion of broadcast coverage, Mr. Russom elaborated.
