A pedagogy training center is under construction in Mai-Mine sub-zone, Southern region, at an expenditure of about 1.3 million Nakfa. The center is quipped with 8 rooms, an assembly hall, store and other facilities. Mai-Mine, 18 February 2011 – A pedagogy training center is under construction in Mai-Mine sub-zone, Southern region, at an expenditure of about 1.3 million Nakfa. The center is quipped with 8 rooms, an assembly hall, store and other facilities.
The head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Woldegiorgis Keleta, stated that the center would play significant role in upgrading the competence of teachers in the sub-zone.
Meanwhile, 5 schools along with teachers’ residence have been built in the villages of Adegolbo, Debremariam, Adi-Ashker, Mekabir Tsabla and Adi-Merho. Additional classrooms have also been constructed in three schools. Students who used to attend classes in makeshift tents would now pursue education in comfortable classrooms.
Besides, a library, computer training center and laboratory have been constructed in Mai-Mine Junior and Secondary School. Mr. Woldegiorgis indicated that student participation in education is showing significant increase in the sub-zone as a result of the continued campaign. He also explained that student dropout is on the decline as both parents and teachers are closely following up student performance.
