Lecture on raising women’s awareness regarding law given in Keren

A lecture on raising the awareness of women regarding law and enhancing their participation in all aspects was given in Keren town.

Keren, 19 February 2011 – A lecture on raising the awareness of women regarding law and enhancing their participation in all aspects was given in Keren town.

The head of administration and finance at the NUEW branch in Anseba region, Ms. Yihdega Yohannes, indicated that the lecture focused on implementation of law, exercising and protecting rights, avoiding harmful practices, the concept of gender and its application, the negative consequence of underage marriage and the like.

The participants highlighted the significance of the lecture in raising their awareness and promoting women’s participation in all domains. They further urged the need for stepping up such campaign in a manner that strengthens women’s organizational capacity.

The head of agitation and information at the NUEW branch in the region, Ms. Amna Hussen Omar, on her part called on women to strengthen organizational capacity and demonstrate academic excellence in education so that they may properly exercise their rights.
